Lagos

Western Algarve, with pretty cobbled streets and picturesque plazas and churches, enclosed by 16th Century walls, Lagos is the Algarve’s prettiest and most historical town.

Small fishing boats mingle with yachts and speedboats down at the marina. Nearby vast, golden beach sheltered by a northern slope, Meia Praia is beautiful. Lagos town centre is fantastic; it contains cobbled streets and historic architecture, from churches to statues, each as fascinating as the next.

Full of history and hills, Lagos also has a lot going on and there are often markets, live music and medieval fairs going on. There are also plenty of bars in the centre that stay open until the early hours if that is what you’re looking for.

The views in Lagos are something else, like a postcard some might say. Head down to the Ponte da Piedade (in front of the lighthouse)and you will get an amazing view of the sweeping sands of Lagos bay with the Monchique hills as a backdrop. B-e-a-utiful, get those cameras out.
