Once a sleepy fishing village, Monte Gordo has now been developed into a bustling seaside resort attracting and catering for both Portuguese and international holiday makers.
A mediterranean climate and the largest beach in the Algarve are only some of the very appealing attributes Monte Gordo has to offer.
Spacious wide streets, separate the high-rise hotel and apartment blocks and town from the beach and promenade. On one side you have an array of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants facing an open promenade, lined with palm trees and benches running along the length of the golden beach, perfect for a walk with the long stretch in the evening.
The town centre, filled with flat cobbled areas and wide streets perfect for pushchairs or wheelchairs. This beautiful town is best seen on foot so if you’re driving park up at the beachfront and take a gander.
Besides the beach there is an abundance of this to get up to, from water sports along the coastline to inland jeep safaris to one of the many beautiful golf courses in the area. And if you want to adventure outside Monte Gordo, why not take a trip to nearby village, Cacela Velha, where you’ll see typically Algarvean whitewashed houses. Beautiful!
