Fire Island is a beautiful stretch of coastline and is located 1 hour from New York which encompasses over 40 kilometres of pristine ocean and shoreline with lush dunes and maritime forests. There are a few beaches within close proximity of the city. Fort Tilden is difficult to get to as its not served by the subway, so, the best way to get to this hidden gem is a bike ride, offering 5 kilometres of clean sand, trees and grassy dunes. Food, drinks and shopping can be found on the nearby boardwalk.
