Rediscover Roman Civilization like you’ve never seen before. Walk in the very footsteps, down the exact streets which were once roamed by the locals of this ancient village. Herculaneum, is excellently preserved due to it being covered in volcanic mud by the Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD and provides a unique insight to Roman life as though you’re seeing it through their very eyes.

The tour starts with a breathtaking view of the coastal Town from above, before we make our way down to explore. Stroll around the Town just as the Romans did over 2000 years ago! Marvel at the original timbers of buildings where clay pots are stored, everything untouched from the day of the eruption. It is believed that many of the inhabitants were able to flee unlike those not so fortunate in Pompeii. It was also a much wealthier town than Pompeii, meaning that the ruins include more lavish houses and use of colored marble.

Explore all the main highlights to this eerie Town, including the public baths with their well-preserved frescoes and mosaics along with the old shops, gymnasiums and so much more. Learn about life back then and contemplate how different life has changed in the modern world.

Next the tour leaves for Mount Vesuvius! We will explore the natural beauty which destroyed the Town in the first place. As we travel up, we will pause for a lunch break. After lunch the bus travels up to mt. 1000 where the most adventurous travelers are left to walk the remaining distance to the top and is extremely worth it. Here you will find a place to rent walking sticks should you require them.

Upon reaching the crater, look around at the hair raising views and look into potentially one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. Here you will have free time explore at you won pace and contemplate the natural disaster which happened in 79 AD. After an educational and eye opening day out embracing local history, the bus will take us back home.
