Valencia walking tour

Stroll back in time with this historic walking tour of Valencia that meanders through the Old Town, taking in the main sights and attractions, including the beautiful cathedral, the magnificent medieval silk exchange and the colourful Central Market. This two-hour is a great introduction to this beautiful city and covers its most outstanding monuments. Your adventure begins at Plaça de la Reina in the heart of the Old Town. This busy and vibrant square is flanked at either end by two of the most impressive Gothic structures in the city: to the north is the cathedral and to the south is St Catherine’s Church. The cathedral’s overall style is Gothic but there are a few Romanesque arches while the popular Micalet belfry has Moorish elements. The interior has a few Renaissance touches while in the 18th century a baroque entrance was added but the cathedral still looks much like it did when it was first built. St Catherine’s Church also boasts an emblematic belfry, which is considered of the symbols of the city. Wander through the narrow alleys of the ancient city, hearing all about Valencia’s history and those of the landmarks and palaces that dot the route. See the glorious Gothic La Llotja, the silk exchange, where medieval merchants haggled and traded. The high Gothic vaults of this Unesco World Heritage Site are a sight to behold. Apart from the wonderful fresh produce of the Central Market, there are plenty of things to admire and chief among them is the modernist architecture.
