Visit Monet's estate in Giverny on this half-day tour from Paris where everything is taken care of for you - you'll travel in comfort and style without having to worry about navigating French public transportation!
You'll arrive in Giverny, where you'll enjoy an orientation talk from your guide before exploring the house and gardens of Monet at your leisure using a self-guided app. Admire some of Monet's lesser-known paintings and the gardens that inspired them.
The rest of your free time is yours to enjoy a delicious lunch, stroll through the quaint village of Giverny, shop for souvenirs, and take in the sights.
You'll meet your guide and tour group at our meeting point and travel to Giverny by comfortable, air-conditioned coach. The journey takes approximately one hour and your knowledgeable, English-speaking guide will give you an insight into the day ahead as you take in the scenery. Upon arrival at the Foundation Claude Monet, where your guide will give you a brief but informative introduction to the estate itself, you'll be free to explore the house and gardens at your leisure.
Monet lived and worked here for 43 years. As the founder of Impressionist painting, Monet is known throughout the art world and society at large. His paintings of nature are outstanding and iconic, and you'll see the gardens that so inspired him. Walk around the lily pad-filled ponds of the garden made famous by Monet's own masterpieces. Admire the fabulous explosion of flowers that change with the seasons. The colors and textures here are simply breathtaking, and it's easy to see why this talented man was so keen to capture them in his art.
Inside the house, you'll see where and how he lived, as well as paintings that are perhaps less well known because they're not hanging in galleries around the world, but live where they were created. Be sure to bring your camera, because you won't be able to resist taking some pictures. The ivy-covered building has been restored to look exactly as it did when it was built, which is a sight to behold...
After your time at the estate itself, you can wander around the provincial town of Giverny itself - it's like something out of a fairy tale, and there are plenty of quaint bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a spot of lunch and a nice drink before heading back to Paris in the early afternoon.
