Guatapé and El Peñol Tour with Return Airport Transfers

Join us for a unique and unforgettable experience in Medellín with our special Guatapé and El Peñol Tour package. Upon your arrival at José María Córdova International Airport, meet the team to board the vehicle that will take you to your hotel within the urban perimeter zone. If your accommodation is outside this area, there will be an additional charge.

Day 1 - Airport collection

Passengers will be greeted at the airport exit by one of our representatives, who will carry the ID badge with the name of the main guest on the reservation. Transportation will be provided in an air-conditioned vehicle.

Day 2 - Guatapé and El Peñol Tour

Heading toward one of the most scenic areas near the city, the municipality of El Retiro, you will enjoy the best views from the outskirts of Medellín and see some of the most luxurious mansions as we enter a region with more exotic and tropical landscapes, typical of El Retiro. In this region, slavery was abolished by Mrs. Javiera Londoño in 1757.

Upon arrival, you’ll be able to make yourself comfortable—use the restrooms and grab a drink. There is a café and a restaurant on-site, and we recommend bringing cash for any additional expenses, as credit or debit card acceptance is not guaranteed. You’ll have time to stretch your legs while walking around the main square and taking unforgettable photos of monuments that represent the abolition of slavery in the Americas. If you need to use the restrooms or other facilities, feel free to do so at your leisure.

The journey continues toward the town of El Peñol, which was relocated in the mid-20th century to make way for the major Guatapé dam project. This stop allows you to explore a replica of the original town before it was moved. From this point, you can already admire the reservoir or lake. As you approach La Piedra del Peñol (El Peñol Rock), you’ll witness the sheer magnitude of this volcanic formation, considered to have one of the most impressive staircases in the world. The breathtaking views from the top make the climb absolutely worth it.

Finally, you’ll arrive in Guatapé, the town of the “zócalos” (colourful baseboards on buildings), a perfect place to enjoy a traditional lunch with exclusive views of the reservoir. In the afternoon, we will return to Medellín, passing through a series of small towns that are part of this charming region.

This is a wonderful way to experience the captivating landscapes of Antioquia and gain a deeper understanding of its culture and traditions. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to stop for photos, desserts, souvenirs, and more.

Day 3 - Return transfer to José María Córdova International Airport

For your return journey, you will be collected from your accommodation and dropped off at the airport in an air-conditioned private vehicle.
