A Living Snapshot of Canadian History!

Quebec is a small city that punches way above its weight as a travel destination thanks to its history as a focal point of Canada’s French colonial past. It’s unique too – the only North American city that still has its old city walls. The nearest one is Mexico City!

We’ve gathered together a few tops sights that you need to see when you visit Quebec on your holidays to Canada.

And while you’re here – see our dedicated Quebec holidays page for some holiday deals.

quebec city guide - place royal

Place-Royale

Place-Royale is a charming corner of Old Quebec, considered by many to be the beating heart of the city’s colonial-era heritage. What was once the centre of the French colony’s business and administration is now a historic district with a fantastic museum, lots of shops and plenty of dining options. Don’t forget to drop by during your trip to Quebec.

Quartier Petit-Champlain

Also located in Old Quebec, the Quartier Petit-Champlain is renowned for being the oldest shopping district in North America. The city’s rich history is on full display here. The beautifully restored buildings host boutiques, shops, cafes and restaurants. It’s a busy part of the city but that doesn’t diminish its charm.

Montmorency Falls Park

Just a short trip from Quebec’s historic heart is this stunning example of Canada’s famed natural beauty. Taller than Niagara Falls, Montmorency Falls are the park’s calling card. Its cascading waters are a sight to behold. Enjoy also the park’s walks, trails, ziplines and bike paths. Popular with visitors and locals alike.

The Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec

The intricate architecture and glittering gold leaf detailing of this gorgeous basilica make it a popular attraction. Take in the historic religious art and head down to the slightly spooky crypts.
