Cassidy Travel committed earlier this summer to financially assist Eve with her travel arrangements over the next 3 years- this young 18 year local girl from Howth Yacht Club is smashing her way through races and already had achieved so much in her career latest news below – Eve has already secured a hat trick of gold medals, a silver in Portugal in August and now competes today in France

Well done Eve we are proud to be part of your journey! Cassidy Travel – supporting local talent!

Eve McMahon won silver at the U21 ILCA Youth World Championships today, marking the best result at this level for Ireland in the ILCA 6 (formerly Laser Radial) class in Vilamoura, Portugal.

A total of seven races were completed over the week due to lack of wind. Eve also won the U19 category.

Already this summer the young Howth YC sailor achieved a hat-trick of gold medals winning the ILCA 6 Youth World Championships in Texas, the World Sailing Youth World Championships in the Netherlands and the ILCA6 Youth European Championships in Greece.

Irish Sailing head coach Rory Fitzpatrick said: “Eve moved up a category for this championship, so it was a tougher fleet with some older and more seasoned girls who have been to the Olympic Games.

Ireland's Eve McMahon completes hat-trick and wins gold at Youth Worlds

“It’s a day all Irish sailors can be proud of,” said James O’Callaghan, Irish Sailing’s Performance Director.

DUBLINER EVE MCMAHON has retained her Youth World Championship title in Houston, Texas after delivering more race wins on the final day of the series.

Competing in the single-handed ILCA6 class (Laser Radial) the Howth Yacht Club sailor has added this second world title to Gold medals at the Youth Sailing World Championships in the Netherlands and the Youth ILCA6 European Championships in Greece.

After weather halted the event schedule on Friday, three races were sailed on Saturday with multiple wins for the Irish sailor who has comprehensively won the championship.

The 18-year-old sailor set a pre-season goal of ‘three from three’ title wins and also managed to sit her Leaving Certificate school exams. McMahon was also recently part of Ireland double-Gold victory at the Youth Worlds along with Rocco Wright.

“Eve’s determination, resilience and ambition to pull off this incredible triumvirate of major regatta victories is quite outstanding,” said James O’Callaghan, Irish Sailing’s Performance Director.

“Eve’s Mum, Dad and brothers have been a big part of her success not forgetting the club support and efforts of multiple coaches in the Irish Sailing programme.
