Live Blog: Wonder of the Seas - The Biggest Ship at Sea

Hi Lauren & Ainie here

WOW WOW WOW what can we say We are just back from the launch event on board Royal Caribbean’s brand new ship – WONDER OF THE SEAS - The BIGGEST ship at Sea.

Check out our video and then read below about some of our favorite areas on board

ROYAL PROMENADE

You embark Wonder of the Seas through the gangway on Deck 5 and the Royal promenade is first to meet you on your embarkation! Filled with lots of shops (featuring perfume, handbags, Royal Caribbean merchandise) to live music to Spotlight Karoke bar (we definitely had a great laugh in here), Sorrento’s pizza open until 3 am This was a winner for us after having one to many cocktails , salsa bars and my all time favourite Starbucks sitting pretty in the middle of the promenade!! This was essential the next morning. and the Rising Tide bar!! This was very cool, you sip away on your drink (adults only) while the bar actually rises up through the decks! We sat back and took in the views, it really was brilliant. THE BIONIC BAR was incredible to watch the robotic arm shake and make your cocktail, you order from an ipad using your stateroom card, where you can choose from some classics, favourites or create your own drink! The robot literally does the rest and you simply scan your card at the bar when your drink is ready and it will slide right into your hand

CENTRAL PARK

Central Park has a such a cool and calm vibe during the day and by night the area truly comes to life with great lighting, superb sky views above and the Trellis bar on hand serving amazing cocktails

AQUATHEATRE

This show was brilliant – you witness Olympic-level athletes dance, dive and twist in a spectacular show. We also got to see the view from the Aquatheatre Suite and wow… THE best seats in the house are from the Aquatheatre Suite balcony.

STATEROOMS

We got to see a few of the different stateroom types as they were open for viewing on board which was brilliant to see the set ups especially for families. Ultra-Spacious Ocean view with Large balcony cabin is ideal for bigger families, they sleep up to 6 people with a Royal King bed, double sofa bed and also two pullmen beds. It is soo spacious but there are only 5 of these staterooms on board so early booking is definitely essential. My favourite was the Crown loft Suite – your own living and dining area in this Duplex suite, floor to ceiling ocean view window waking you up with unbelievable views at the foot of your Royal bed and a choice of breakfast on your balcony listening to the waves gently bounce beneath you. Absolute bliss.

The décor and colour schemes in all of the staterooms are very modern and sleek. The navy and blue tones really make it so bright and airy.

POOL-DECK

The pool deck is suited for everyone, those who don’t particularly like the pool and water can relax and chill on a comfy sun lounger in or out of the sun. Comfy bed like lounges too for those mid day naps. Kids area is like a mini water park filled with plenty of slides and climbing areas for the little ones too. Then on the other side there is two main pools with 4 whirpools in each corner (these were like warm baths soo relaxing) and of course great music around the pool deck from the live band at certain times or the Dj there too at their given times so you are never without a pool side tune.

Onto the Solarium area on this deck towards the front of the ship, which was an indoor area with more comfy sun loungers, bed like loungers, chill out area’s, jacuzzi’s, pools and whirlpools. It was so calm and relaxing in here during the day and the views from here with the floor to ceiling windows all the way around, oh my goodness. It was like something you could only dream of. The solarium was also used for the silent disco one of the nights and this is also a must do we had so much fun at this. First time doing a silent disco and it was definitely a highlight of the entertainment on board.

Also I have to mention the El Loco Fresh Mexican food bar – oh my the quesadillas and tacos were the BEST I have ever had. All made fresh too.

BOARDWALK

This area was probably my favourite. From dancing staff in Johnny rockets (most delicious American diner I have been in), the Carosel right in the centre spinning around and carrying the giggles through the ship of many children and even adults having fun on it. The sports bar playing the sporting events on the big screens and of course watching the best reactions from everyone who braced themselves on the biggest slide at sea the ULTIMATE ABYSS – it takes you spiralling through 9 decks and you reach the end upon the Boardwalk neighbourhood so this was fun to watch while having lunch at Johnny Rockets.

The Sugar Beach is right next door, literal candy land. You can choose from a range of colour coordinated m&ms, to GIANT gummy bears or fresh ice creams in many flavours and add your own toppings.

You can also spot the brave ones zip lining over the boardwalk neighbourhood too all the way from deck 16 (this is 9 decks above). Deck 16 is also where you will find the Flowrider, sports court, mini golf and the wipe out bar.

We feel so incredibly lucky to have seen Wonder of the Seas first hand before recommending to all of our clients but we can honestly say after the best 2 days on board you will be guaranteed a WONDERful time on WONDER of the Seas. We could chat all about it all day long so if you have any questions or would like to find out more contact us now on 01 – 8779890 or email us cruise@cassidytravel.ie

Happy Cruising.
